Zo biedt muis' touw keer op keer uitkomst in penibele situaties. Maar als plotseling de tak afbreekt en de twee muizen op de grond belanden, vlak voor de neus van een gemeen uitziende kater, weet muis niet hoe hard hij weg moet hollen. ‘Ik leid hem af!' roept hij nog. Muizenmeisje vlucht ondertussen in een holletje en verzucht: ‘Mijn held, wat is hij toch dapper! Maar - had hij z'n touw nu eigenlijk bij zich?'
